Resume diagnosis
Why your resume may get rejected before an interview
Silence after an application is frustrating. It is also not a diagnosis. Before blaming a mysterious resume robot, check what you can actually verify.

A rejection is not proof that your resume is broken
Employers may pause hiring, receive many qualified applications or choose someone whose experience fits a particular need. A rejection alone cannot tell you which of those happened.
Start with the role’s requirements and any screening questions. Location, availability, authorization or a mandatory qualification can matter independently of how beautifully your experience is written. Answer honestly rather than trying to write around a requirement you do not meet.
Make your relevant experience easy to spot
A broad summary can hide a strong match. “Motivated professional seeking opportunities” does not tell someone what you can do. Replace vague claims with your area of experience and the kind of work you have actually handled.
Look at the first few bullets under your most relevant role. Do they show the capabilities this job needs, or do they mostly list routine duties? Give a reviewer evidence without requiring detective work.
- Name relevant tools you have genuinely used.
- Explain your contribution, not only the team’s task.
- Include supported outcomes or concrete scope.
Before
Highly motivated professional with excellent technical skills.
Clearer
Support specialist with experience troubleshooting billing issues and documenting recurring customer problems for the product team.
Illustrative positioning, not a promise that a new summary will secure an interview.
Check the file before blaming the screening system
Open the exact file you submitted. Can you select and copy the text? Does the copied text follow a sensible reading order? Are your contact details readable? These checks can catch obvious export problems, although they cannot simulate every employer’s system.
Follow the requested file format. LaunchHire accepts text-based PDFs, but an employer may request a different format. Do not send an image-only scan when a readable document is expected.
Improve one hypothesis at a time
Keep a simple application log with the role, date and resume version. Compare applications for similar roles rather than treating every outcome as a test of one universal resume.
A resume report can help surface missing evidence and unclear wording. It cannot reveal an employer’s private decision or guarantee an interview. Use it to choose a specific improvement, then continue applying to roles that fit. Your worth is not a conversion rate.
