PDF or Word resume? Send the format the application can actually use
This debate does not need a fan club. Start with the application instructions, then check the file you are actually about to send.

The employer’s instructions come first
If the listing or upload field specifies a format, follow it. If only certain extensions are accepted, do not rename the extension of an incompatible file to get through the upload.
Keep an editable original and export a submission copy. Do not assume that a format accepted by one platform will be accepted by another.
Know the difference between a PDF and a picture
A PDF can contain selectable text or simply an image of a page. Those are not equivalent for text extraction. Try selecting and copying a paragraph before uploading.
Lever’s parsing documentation lists supported document formats and explains its parsing workflow. Product support varies, so inspect the destination’s current guidance rather than treating “ATS” as one software product.

Before
Renamed my scanned image from .jpg to .pdf.
Clearer
Exported a text-based PDF, copied its text to check it and followed the portal’s format instructions.
Example wording to adapt to your own situation, not a claim or result to copy.
Inspect the exported version
Check page breaks, font rendering, link destinations and the relationship between dates and roles. Copy the text and make sure sentences do not merge across columns.
Give the file a clear name such as your name and the target role. Remove comments and tracked changes from editable documents before sharing. Do not put unnecessary private identifiers in the filename.
Use the right file for each workflow
LaunchHire’s Analyzer accepts readable PDFs. Resume Studio is a separate way to build a new resume and export a PDF; it is not an arbitrary uploaded-document editor.
For an employer that requests another format, use an appropriate editor and follow that requirement. A resume tool’s preferred format does not override the application instructions.
